Knights of Columbus • Matthew Pustina, 907-317-8695
The Knights of Columbus was founded in 1882 when Father Michael McGivney and a small group of men founded a society designed to provide some security for widows and orphans of Catholic parishioners. Father McGivney’s idea grew into an Order of Catholic men and their families, dedicated to promoting the ideas of charity, unity, fraternity and patriotism. In 1959 at Holy Family Cathedral, Our Lady of the Snows Council #4859 was started and now is very involved within our parish. Catholic men age 18 and over are welcome to join.
Catholic Men for Life • Dennis Deering, 907-258-0386
The men of our parish have formed a pro-life group, Catholic Men for Life. The threefold purpose of Catholic Men for Life is to witness to the Gospel of Life, speed the final victory of the Gospel of Life through prayer, and arouse the consciences of Catholic men regarding their responsibility to live up to the Gospel of Life.
St. Vincent De Paul • 907-330-9637
Sponsored by Holy Family Old Cathedral, SVDP has a historical mission of charity in assisting the poor who may be parishioners or from the general community. Donations are received from private contributions and second collections from Holy Family parish. Clients are assigned to a SVDP volunteer (caseworker) for review and evaluation. Volunteers must be able to make decisions with the information provided through written sources (applications) and possible home visits. The caseworkers confer with clients and then make decisions on assistance. Individuals who are interested in this ministry must be a registered adult member of the parish and provide two references, one of which must be from a priest from the parish. Training and support meetings are held. Strict confidentiality is required.

We welcome young people under the age of 18. The aim of the Legion is to grow in holiness through apostolic work in union with Mary. The older members do works appropriate to their age. The Legion of Mary prepares youth to be active Catholic members in their adult lives.
Legion of Mary • Church Office, 907-276-3455
The object of the Legion of Mary is the glory of God through the holiness of its members developed by prayer and active co-operation in Mary’s and the Church’s work.
The Legion sees as its priority the spiritual and social welfare of each individual. The members participate in the life of the parish through visitation of families, the sick, both in their homes and in hospitals and through collaboration in every apostolic and missionary undertaking sponsored by the parish. The Legion of Mary meets Fidays other than First Fridays at 7 PM at the Holy Family Center. Please feel free to attend a meeting to see what it’s like.
Women of Holy Family • Roberta Zipay, 907-276-3455
This ministry welcomes all women parishioners to help organize receptions for church functions, which includes, but is not limited to, setting up and decorating the parish hall, hosting events, and purchasing food. Members also chair the annual Christmas Bazaar, and hold an annual Christmas Party for the women of the parish. Twice a year, Easter and Christmas, members thoroughly clean the vestibule, nave, sanctuary, Blessed Sacrament Chapel, and the cry room areas. The time commitment will depend on the activity. There are no meetings to attend. Training is done “on the job,” and planning is decided informally by phone and at the various planned activities.
